Solar power producers must throw away electric power

At the same time hydropower gets more expensive due to little rain.

In Norway Plus customers with solar power, who produces more power than they need are able to sell what they don’t need back to the power producer.

With this year’s extreme hot and sunny weather with very little rain, and more expensive power, a lot of the customers have benefited from this.

The problem has been that from the moment a solar producer does deliver more than 100 kilowatts to the power grid, they must pay a fee that is more expensive than the profit. Because of this a lot of the producers of solar power has toned down ore stopped the production this summer.

The Norwegian government has because of this changed the roles for these customers. From the beginning of 2019 these customers will no longer have to pay the expensive fees.
